#1 What is a Trek Storage upgrade solution?

A Trek storage upgrade solution is a fully plug-n-play hard drive upgrade kit for mobile computers. Many of yesterday’s mobile computers do not meet the requirements of today’s demanding and large software applications. The hard drives are just too small. Trek offers upgrades with as much as 30Gbs of capacity. Thus allowing the users to have larger storage area without having to purchase a new mobile computer. Our kits are machine specific while meeting all of the manufacturer’s technical and power specifications, plug-n-play and easy to install. Our kits must be made to satisfy the demanding use of corporate, government and industrial users. We know mobile computer users are out in the field under tough conditions. Therefor, we use only the best in hard drives: IBM and Toshiba. Through field and elemental test IBM and Toshiba have proven to exceed the requirements of hard mobile computer users. With their high rating for shock absorption and high performance, rest assured Trek uses only IBM and Toshiba.

Using the best drives on the market requires the best warranty on the market. Trek offers a 3 year unconditional warranty against any defects in its quality and workmanship. And with a 30 DOA replacement warranty you can be sure your drive works the day you install it or we will rush a new one to you immediately.

                   #4 Are your kits interchangeable with other machines?

Generally no, our kits are machine specific. Different machines require different caddies and connectors. We offer kits for over 600 different mobile computer models and over 20 different manufacturers, we have one to fit your needs.

                   #5 What does your kit include?

When you select a kit that’s right for you, rest assured that kit is fully tested, packed and shipped with the following: hard drive and caddy, manual, software and Trek’s unconditional warranty.

#6 What if I have an older mobile computer that does not support today’s larger capacity drives?

We have covered everything. First, we recommend that you contact the manufacturer to download their flash BIOS (basic input output system) upgrade. This software upgrade is produced for specific mobile computers. It allows users to update their BIOS so their machines can work with the latest hard drives, other accessories and can possibly update or cure Y2K problems. Contact the manufacturer of your mobile computer for further details, some manufacturers provide their flash BIOS upgrades on their web-sites. Second, we can provide a copy of IBM’s disk manager software with FAT 32 support for use with the latest 30G capacity drives. This software has a dynamic overlay and will override your BIOS’ limitations.
